Altilium, a UK-based clean technology group focused on supporting the transition to net zero, and Enva, a leading recycling and resource recovery specialist, have today announced a new strategic partnership for the collection and recycling of EV batteries in the UK. As the number of electric vehicles and battery powered devices increases, the partnership brings [...]
Altilium Clean Technology planned scale-up of its operations over the next 36 months will result in total carbon savings of nearly 383,480 tonnes of carbon per year (based on a saving of 2.2kg CO₂ per kg of battery recycled). That’s the equivalent of the carbon saving of planting of nearly 19 million trees in 1 [...]
Our Medet recycling hub (ACT 3) will be a one-stop-shop for critical minerals in the European region, including copper, nickel, lithium, and cobalt. The 2,200-hectare Medet copper tailings project in central-west Bulgaria is not a mining venture, but an innovative waste-to-value facility. Here we will recycle copper from old mine waste essential for EV batteries, [...]
Altilium has filed a UK patent application for recovery of graphite from recycling old EV batteries, giving anode circularity and reducing the UK’s reliance on imported raw materials. The application is for an advanced process that recovers high-quality graphite from spent EV battery black mass (anode and cathode waste). This reclaimed graphite, processed through our [...]
Altilium, a UK-based clean technology group focused on supporting the transition to net zero, is proud to announce that it has secured backing from the UK government to begin rapid prototyping of lithium-ion EV battery cells using recycled cathode active materials (CAM). The innovative project, the first of its kind in the UK, has received [...]
Altilium, a UK-based clean technology group focused on supporting the transition to net zero, has today announced details of the latest advances in its innovative EcoCathode™ hydrometallurgical recycling technology, with breakthroughs in the recovery of lithium from new battery chemistries and the production of cathode active materials (CAM) from a mixed feed of lithium scrap. [...]
Altilium Clean Technology COO and co-founder Dr. Christian Marston joined SYNETIQ CEO Tom Rumboll and Haydn Davies, Editor in Chief at ATF Professional, to discuss the latest developments in EV battery recycling, for the first episode of SYNETIQ’S 'Let's Talk About EV’ Podcast. Christian highlighted the UK’s good progress in the transition to electrification and [...]
Altilium have spent an inspiring week in Chile, joining up with our new partners at SQM Lithium Ventures to experience first-hand their commitment to sustainability and innovation in the production of lithium. We were honoured to be guests at the launch of the SQM Lithium Ventures GEN3 Acceleration program in Antofagasta, meeting the entrepreneurs selected [...]
The UK remains at the forefront of the transition to electrification, with EV production set to hit 1.2m vehicles a year by 2030, according to the Advanced Propulsion Centre’s latest Demand Report, published last week. The report paints a positive picture of the UK’s journey to zero-emission vehicles, with total battery demand from passenger and [...]
Altilium has successfully demonstrated the processing and purification of its recycled graphite into a product ready for supply chain re-entry, as part of an 18-month feasibility study supported by Innovate UK. Under the programme, Altilium processed three generations of graphite samples from end-of-life battery waste (black mass), which were successfully upcycled and refined for re-use [...]
