recell.store, the UK’s first online marketplace for used EV batteries and an Altilium company, is proud to announce the inaugural meeting of The 4R Battery Alliance, chaired by Tom Rumboll, Board Advisor and principal of TR Advisory Ltd.

The Alliance brings together key stakeholders from across the battery supply chain – from OEMs and recyclers to fleet operators, insurers and energy innovators – with the shared purpose of creating a forum for collaboration and driving real progress in EV battery reuse, repurpose, recycling, and resource recovery.

Attendees at the first meeting included:

Julien Masnier, Product and R&D Manager – Nissan Energy, Diana Rovynska, Circular Economy Strategy, Product Manager – Nissan Europe, Alan Bastey, Customer Relationship Director – Zenith, Andy Turbefield, Head of Quality – Halfords Auto Centres, Felicity Harer, Senior Transformation Manager – Direct Line Group, Natalie Lloyd, Compliance & Risk Manager – Ctrent, Neil Joslin, Chief Operating Officer – Ctrent, David Cartwright – Managing Director, Altilium, Michael Sneath, Managing Director, Lubricant & Batteries – Enva, Alistair McNeil, COO – Allye, Simon Reid, Managing Director – recell.store and Michael Hill, COO – LKQ Synetiq.

Together, the group discussed a number of key challenges and opportunities within the EV battery supply chain. With critical minerals already being recovered from battery waste here in the UK, the 4R Battery Alliance aims to accelerate the development of a circular economy for EV batteries, helping to establish the UK as a true leader in this market and supporting the transition to Net Zero.

Tom Rumboll, recell.store Board Advisor, commented: “The 4R Battery Alliance is about connecting, informing, inspiring – and most importantly – making things happen. By bringing together key voices from across the supply chain, we can ensure the UK leads the world in sustainable battery recovery, reuse and recycling.”

During the online meeting, members identified five key areas of focus for the Alliance:

• Battery testing: building confidence and consistency across all battery transactions.
• Information sharing: enhancing transparency throughout the supply chain.
• Skills and resources: ensuring the sector is equipped to handle growing volumes of end-of-life batteries.
• Consumer engagement: bringing the public on the journey to electrification and full battery circularity.
• Standards and safety: ensuring all parties adhere to best practices to protect people and the planet.
