Purchasing Assistant

Salary: Depending on experience
Hours: 8 hour shift, 3-5 days (negotiable)
Location: Plymouth, Devon

The Role:

As a Purchasing Assistant at Altilium, you will play a crucial role in supporting our procurement activities, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials necessary for our battery recycling operations. The successful candidate will work closely with the COO and in future the Purchasing Manager and other cross-functional teams to maintain an efficient supply chain and contribute to the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

What You’ll Do:

Vendor Management:

  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiating terms and conditions to ensure favorable agreements for the company.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers, monitoring their performance, and addressing any issues promptly.

Purchase Order Processing:

  • Generate purchase orders accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely invoice processing.

Inventory Control:

  • Implement effective inventory management strategies to ensure the availability of materials for uninterrupted production in processing plant.

Cost Negotiation:

  • Assist in negotiating prices, terms, and contracts with suppliers to achieve cost savings.
  • Research and recommend cost-effective alternatives.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and inventory levels.
  • Prepare regular reports for management, highlighting key performance indicators and areas for improvement.

Compliance and Sustainability:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards in the procurement process.
  • Contribute to the company’s sustainability initiatives by promoting environmentally responsible sourcing practices.

What You’ll Bring:

As a minimum you should have:

  • Previous experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with procurement software.
