Innovation is at the heart of Altilium. We believe R&D and IP are the cornerstones upon which successful EV battery recycling companies are built, laying the foundations for long-term success. By investing in these areas, Altilium can position itself as a leader in the UK and Europe, driving innovation and shaping the future of sustainable, low carbon battery raw materials.
Our Technology Ecosystem
With support of the UK Government Innovation Agencies and our partners, were establishing a comprehensive ecosystem that ensures the responsible management of EV batteries, from end-of-life collection to direct reuse of recovered raw materials in a new battery. In each step of the recycling supply chain, we are innovating and developing technologies ensuring efficiency, reliability and environmental responsibility.
- Zero Carbon EV Battery Collection: With our partner Lunaz we will offer a zero-carbon footprint EV battery collection service, with transportation of old batteries powered with their residual charge. Zero carbon transport of batteries could reduce the carbon footprint in battery recycling by 5%.
- Battery Processing Stations: Black Mass, a crucial component of EV batteries, is at the heart of our focus. We are investigating automation and robotic systems for handling and discharging the large volumes of batteries coming from the EV revolution. Automation is key to processing batteries at an unprecedented scale while ensuring precision and safety every step of the way.
- Black Mass Refining to CAM: Our proprietary hydrometallurgical process can recover over 95% of the cathode metals such as lithium, nickel and cobalt, over and over again for reengineering to battery ready cathode active materials (CAM), with a possible carbon saving of 50% compared to virgin raw materials.
At Atilium, we imagine a world where every electric vehicle battery is recycled and contributes to a sustainable future by reducing waste and mining, saving our natural resources. Our full battery circularity model and technology innovation at each step of the supply chain embodies the essence of a circular economy.
