The new UK and US economic partnership will help UK-based firms involved in the mining, recycling and refining of critical minerals who are suppling US electric vehicle and battery manufacturers, in turn strengthening a US supply chain for raw materials needed for a sustainable transport future.

With an early mover advantage in the UK lithium-ion battery recycling space, we can be a global leader in an industry with huge growth prospects in the years to come as EVs go mainstream.

Our UK technical leadership is a result of our strong investment in R&D at our EV Battery Recycling Technology Centre where we are processing old EV batteries to recover over 95% of the critical minerals lithium, nickel, cobalt and manganese direct to battery-ready cathode active materials.

We have developed green processing technologies that could reduce the associated production of carbon dioxide by more than 38% vs traditional mining processes and in the future might fulfil the recycled content requirement of the inflation reduction act basis supply from a country with whom the US has a critical minerals agreement.

A planned battery recycling facility in Teesside will have capacity to process scrap from over 150,000 EVs to produce 30,000 tonnes of low carbon cathode active material (CAM) per year, making it one of the largest in region.
