This apprenticeship programme is being made possible with support from Devon County Council’s Green Innovation Fund and these new work-based learning experiences will create much-needed routes into the growth industry of lithium-ion battery recycling.

In the past, apprenticeships were restricted to only some trades, and some parts of the economy. Creating more alternative career paths into recycling will be a key part of addressing the expected future skills shortage in this sector.

The company is aiming to recruit two apprentices in the first intake, with all apprenticeships lasting for a minimum of a year. Every apprentice is allocated a workplace mentor within the organisation and so they are well equipped for further progression. While all apprenticeships on offer are for entry-level roles, a longer-term aim of the program is to expand into middle and senior level management roles.

The first, which has already been filled is for a Graduate Apprentice in Business and Administration and will start July 2022 at its Battery Recycling Technology Centre in Devon, UK.

The second is open to all final year school leavers who are completing their A-Levels in 2022.

By launching the program, the company aims to engage and attract a socio-economically diverse pool of high-performers to start their careers and development from an earlier age.
