Hatch are currently preparing a commercial and engineering study for the retrofit of the plant to recycle lithium-ion batteries as well as a green house gas analysis of the works. The purpose of the visit was to prepare the process flow and detailed equipment lists for the plant modification.

The Hatch study will be completed July 15th 2022 with first processing of battery waste expected end 2022.

Recycling end-of-life electric vehicle batteries promotes a circular economy by preventing them going to landfill and causing environmental damage. Using recycled critical metals in the manufacture of new batteries results in a 38% carbon reduction compared to virgin mined materials.

Hatch is the one of the world’s premier consulting companies providing engineering, project and construction management, technologies, business consulting and operational services to the mining, metallurgical, energy and infrastructure fields.
