Once an Electric Vehicle battery reaches the end of its useful life, the battery pack can be collected, dismantled, and shredded. The shredded material is then processed to produce so-called “black mass”, which consists of high amounts of lithium, manganese, cobalt, and nickel metals. This black mass is the feedstock to the Altilium Metals recycling process.
The agreement, in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), formalises the supply of 10,000 MT per year of black mass feedstock to the proposed MEDET recycling facility in Bulgaria commencing Q4 2022.
This strengthens the existing relationship between Altilium Metals and one of the key player in Europe for the import, export and recover of diverse battery scrap and other metals.
